Family Matters

I really didn’t have the most stable parents. Now that I have a family of my own, it’s really incredible to see how much spouses have to learn together. My parents never gave me an example to follow. Being a couple and working together takes consideration and effort from both people. Mr. Right has to be someone you can grow with as you learn to become a married couple and parents.

How Can You Really Know Someone?

I think the only way to really get to know someone is to spend a lot of time with them. People can’t hide who they really are if you see them in many different situations. Sooner or later, their true personality is on display. However, when your biological clock is ticking, you don’t have the luxury of taking years to get to know someone. You have to do an astute analysis to determine who might be your Mr. Right. I believe there are some clear signs when you are not compatible with someone.

Settling?

Okay. I think that getting married at age thirty-nine and a half has influenced me in many ways. When I was single, I would often wonder if the married couples I saw out at stores and other places had just settled for each other. As I was waiting for my Mr. Right, I knew I didn’t want to settle for just Mr. Good Enough. It’s easy to get tired of being a single woman, especially after a certain age. I can see how some might just give in and marry someone out of convenience instead of love. Now, I’m married to my Mr. Right but it’s hard to break the habit of looking at other married couples and wondering if they just settled for each other.

Where is Mr. Right?

I like watching romantic movies. I watched a lot of romantic movies before I found my Mr. Right. It’s just fun to see the characters in the movies have a connection that just works. They aren’t even sure why it works. It just does. Before I found Mr. Right, I wondered if that was really how it felt to find your true love. Now I know that it’s true.

Is It Harder to Find Mr. Right?

I think about the past few decades and wonder if it was easier back then to find a spouse. Were people happy in their marriages? Did men just get married because it was expected of them?

Single for a Long Time

I remember being single and wondering if Mr. Right would ever show up. I’ve been married now for more than two years and there are still times when I can’t believe I’m married.

I think about my accomplishments from this year and about what I want in the new year. Having a family I love, makes this a much more enjoyable thing to do now than in past years.

Thankful for Family

Every time I think about how thankful I am to have a family of my own, I wonder how my mother could have taken it for granted. Being a mother is the best thing in the world. It’s a dream job.

Family Fun Every Season

Having a family has made me appreciate every season of the year. When I was single, I would plan things around my job. Now that I’m a mom, I realize what each season has to offer and I plan activities for family fun.
